The restaurant first opened in May 2010, introducing South East Asian cuisine to Cumbria. In June 2011 the restaurant closed and was subsequently reopened under new management.
In July 2011, the restaurant was relaunched as Royal Outpost a Malaysian and Thai restaurant and joined the list of Carlisle restaurants With a new menu, logo and web site, but retaining the same chef, the relaunch brought a range of exciting new flavors and a freshness to the menu and the restaurant as a whole.
